U Pain Bridge, Mandalay
Proceed to Amaraupra (was a Royal capital in 1782) to visit U Bein Bridge built across Taungthaman Lake. The 1.2 km bridge was built around 1850 and is believed to be the oldest and longest teak wood bridge in the world. Then continue to Mahagandayon Monastery, the biggest Buddhist learning Centre in Mandalay where you can learn the daily life of monks. Then visit to the Silk Weaving workshops and continue to Mahamuni Pagoda, built by King Bodawpaya in 1784, located southwest of Mandalay. The Mahamuni Buddha image is deified in this temple, and originally came from Mrauk-U (Rakhine). Continue visit to Marble Curving and Gold Leaf Beating workshops before check-in to your hotel.
Then visit to Shwenandaw Monastery (Golden Palace Monastery), a historic Buddhist monastery built in 1880 by King Thibaw Min. The monastery is known for its teak carvings of Buddhist myths, which adorn its walls and roofs. Afterward continue to Kuthodaw Pagoda (also known as Mahalawka Marazein), built during the reign of King Mindon, which contains the World’s Largest Book. Continue to Kyaukdawgyi Pagoda (also known as MahaThetkyaMarazain Pagoda), built by King Mindon stands at the foot of Mandalay Hill. The image was carved out of a huge single block of marble. Enjoy beautiful sunset form Mandalay Hill. Transfer back to your hotel and stay overnight.
After breakfast at Hotel, transfer to Mandalay jetty and enjoy around 45 minute’s boat trip to Mingun. Arrive Mingun and explore the sightseeing by Bullock-Carts. Visit to Mingun Bell, the heaviest functioning bell in the world at several times in history, weighing 55,555 viss (90 tons) and the number is conveniently remembered by many people in Myanmar as a mnemonic “Min Hpyu Hman Hman Pyaw”, with the consonants representing the number 5 in Burmese astronomy and numerology. Then visit to Mingun Pagoda (unfinished pagoda), build by King Bodawpaya in 1790. Continue to Hsinbyume Pagoda (known as Myatheindan Pagoda), built in 1816 by King Bagyidaw dedicated to the memory of his senior wife, Princess Hsinpyume. Transfer back to Mandalay and continue to airport to transfer to Yangon. Free time and stay overnight at hotel.
