Khaikhtiyo Pagoda, Mon State


Check out from hotel and take our private air conditioned car to Bago (about 2 hours’ drive), an ancient capital of 16th century (Mon Kingdom), which was famous for its traditional cheroot industry. Visit to Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda, originally built around the 10th century, the tallest pagoda in Myanmar which is higher than Shwe Dagon Pagoda in Yangon. Proceed to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda (known as Golden Rock Pagoda). On the way, have the lunch at a restaurant before arriving to the Kin Pun ‘base camp’ . Then take a truck with locals to drive up to the mountain around 1 hr 15 minutes. You will see significant views and friendly people along the way up to the mountain. The incredible Golden Rock where the Hair relic of Buddha enshrined in the pagoda is precariously perched on a projecting tabular rock. View the beautiful panorama from Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda compound. Go back to the truck station,( Close at 6 PM ) and get back the truck to go back down to the Kin Pun ‘base camp’. Then take our car and go to the hotel. Have dinner and overnight at your hotel.

In the morning after breakfast return back to Bago, on the way seeing the rubber plantation of Mon State and the life styles of local people. Then arrive back to Bago and visit the reconstructed Bago Palace, and then to the reclining Shwe-tha-lyaung Buddha, 55m long and 16m high, which is one of the most impressive and proportional Buddha images in Myanmar, and Kyaik Pun Pagoda (mostly known as Lay Myat Hnar Paya – four giant Buddha Images). Return to Yangon. On the way back, visit Htauk Kyant War Memorial Cemetery, over 27000 Allied soldiers were died during the campaigns in second world war. Arrive back to Hotel.End of services ****
