Inle ,Pindaya, Shan State
Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival is the biggest annual event in Inle Lake, holiest religious site in the southern Shan State. The festival is annually held between September and October (during the Burmese month of Thadingyut), 18 days long festival, and the festival dates are calculated according to the Lunar Calendar of Myanmar. Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda represents the Five Buddha Images – Kakkusandra, Kaunagamana, Kasatpa, Gautama, and Arainmareya Buddha of this world. The original form of Buddha images cannot be seen as it is totally covered with gold and only men are allowed to offer gold leaf onto the Buddha images. During the festival, four of Buddha Images are taken throughout Inle Lake and one Buddha Image always remains at the temple. The four images reside at the main monastery in each village for the night, and the high point of the festival is when the Buddha images arrive at the main town of Nyaung Shwe where most pilgrims come and pay their respects and veneration. There are several of floating boats during the festival rowed by leg-rowers of Intha (who live in Inle Lake), and this festival includes fun fairs, dances, and leg-rowed boat races. You can consider your selves lucky as you have a change to participate one of the most famous festivals in Shan State, Myanmar.
In the morning, our local guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Yangon Airport for the morning flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho, drive to Pindaya and visit to Pindaya Mystery caves and Shwe U Min Pagoda, famous Pone Ta Loke Lake, and observe bamboo umbrella making. Then proceed to NyanungShwe (Inle Lake), and stay overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at hotel and check-out to proceed to Taunggyi, capital city of Shan State. On the way, a stop will be made at Ayethayar Wine Garden where you can enjoy fresh wine (own plan). Arrive Taunggyi and visit to local market (if time permit). Continue visit to Kakku Pagodas (over 7,000 pagodas), one of the most visited places in the Shan State, about 25km away from Taunggyi, near Mway Taw Village. Lunch at local restaurant and proceed to Sulamuni Pagoda at Taunggyi. Then continue to Mya Sein Taung Paya/ Shwe Phone Pwint Paya, situated on the top of the mountain and overlooking the beauty of Taunggyi City’s views from the top of it. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight at hotel in Taunggyi.
